Join us

If you are motivated to work at the frontier of atomic physics and quantum science, and you are excited about the topics in the Research page, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are an equal opportunity employer: members of all underrepresented groups are welcome.

Bachelor and Master students

If you are interested in experimental atomic physics, quantum optics as well as quantum simulation and information consider to join our group for your thesis or internship! Possible projects include optical setup design, hardware programming and AMO physics simulation, electronics design and prototyping, etc. Other information can be found here .
Students from EU universities who are interested in an internship can apply for financial supported through the Erasmus+ program.
Don't hesitate to contact us at arquslab (AT) units (DOT) it.

Available internship projects:

  • Stabilization of an infrared DFB laser to a home-made optical resonator
  • Simulation of the stochastic motion of individual atoms undergoing strong photon scattering from counter-propagating beams
  • Assembly and characterization of an optical phase-locked loop for blue laser diode stabilization
  • Programming of an image-analysis convolutional neural network for atom number and position detection in the few photon regime

  • PhD students

We are always keen on hearing from students interested in joining our group.
The University of Trieste offers PhD scholarships starting in November. Please be aware that the application deadline is usually in late Spring. Information on the PhD program in Physics can be found on the University of Trieste website.
The University of Naples also offers a PhD program in Quantum Technologies in collaboration with CNR, which qualifies for carrying out experimental projects in Trieste. The PhD course presentation can be found here. Contact us at arquslab (AT) units (DOT) it for any questions!

    Postdocs

We currently have an opening for a postdoc starting in early-2025 on the ytterbium experiment. The position is funded for a minimum of 2 years by the EU Flagship project on Quantum Simulation PASQuanS2. If you are interested or you would like to know more, please get in touch with Francesco Scazza.

We are always keen on hearing from postdocs interested in joining our group. We will advertize here any funded positions. In addition, there are other funding routes available to carry out postdoctoral research work in Trieste, including:

  • TRIL scholarship (ICTP)
  • Marie-Sklodowska Curie postdoctoral fellowships

  • We are always happy to support outstanding candidates to work in our group through any of the above Fellowships, contact us at arquslab (AT) units (DOT) it if you are interested!
