Since 2013 I have been coordinating a multidisciplinary research activity for the development of novel binders for medical, pharmaceutical, and biological applications.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-823 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.units.it\/sarafortuna\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/Sara2019.jpg\" alt=\"Sara Fortuna\" width=\"200\" \/> By training I am a physical chemist (Laurea in Chimica,\u00a0 2006, University of Trieste, Italy) and I got my PhD from Warwick University (UK) in 2010 with a thesis in &#8220;Computational Techniques for the Study of Molecular Self-Organisation&#8221;. I then moved back to Italy: I worked in CNR-IOM and SISSA (Trieste), and at the University of Udine. There I met Giacinto Scoles, a physical chemist like me.\u00a0 He introduced me to nanomedicine and personalised medicine: his vision and approach sparked my interest. I had the opportunity to meet colleagues from very diverse backgrounds,\u00a0 and I then spent one year at the University of Nova Gorica (Slovenia) as a Talents3 fellow to learn more details about antibody fragments, especially from a biological perspective, and then back in Italy to SISSA and the \u00a0University of Trieste.
